It’s no secret the Wren Chapel is a ceremony favorite. Thousands of adoring couples have pledged their love to their soulmates in this well-loved and respected non-denominational chapel of the Sir Christopher Wren Building. It all started on October 7, 1860, when Mr. Dulany Ball of Fairfax County, Virginia, and Miss Sallie Wright of Williamsburg were married within the old Chapel of William & Mary College. We are so glad they did. The Wren chapel has so much to offer as your ceremony location.

Details of the Grounds

The Wren Chapel wedding venue is perfect for your ceremony and has all the elegance, charm, and traditional beauty your wedding day could ask for. Impressive woodwork graces the chapel, romantically lit by a grand chandelier, and lined with wooden pews to frame the aisle.

Photography Opportunities

Majestic wood adorns the walls and accents of the chapel serving as a romantic and warm backdrop. Windows bring in natural light, bringing out that beautiful wedding day glow (no filters necessary here!). You can take advantage of the large doors for playful but elegant bride and groom photos. There is so much charm, the opportunities are endless. The outside grounds of the brick walkway and lush greenery make excellent airy and light portraits outdoors. If you want something more vintage, make use of their brick-and-mortar build and give your photos that old-fashioned aesthetic. Every corner is a photo opportunity begging to be captured.

Wedding Details

To reserve this beautiful Wren Chapel wedding venue, the bride OR groom must be a current William & Mary student, alum, faculty, or staff (or the children of anyone in those groups). This makes booking your day easier. While most wedding venues can have quite a long waiting list for an available date, that’s not the case with a Wren Chapel wedding. Their record short lead time for booking a wedding was only 24 hours before their ceremony! They pulled off a beautiful event for the two to happily marry in no time.  This makes it a great location for intimate weddings and elopements as well!
