What exactly is a micro wedding in Williamsburg, VA?! Traditionally, an elopement is more of a spur of the moment or even secretive thing (isn’t that what you think of when you hear the word?). So what if you don’t want a huge wedding with 150+ guests and lots of planning? Here enters the increasingly popular micro wedding (micro = “small”)!
A micro wedding is an intimate celebration (usually 50 guests) with your closest friends and family. The day is usually much more laid back with ample opportunities to connect with your guests (and even more opportunities to steal away with your love for intimate portrait sessions!). Since Covid, these have become increasingly popular, and honestly, I don’t want them to go away! They are SO special to photograph, and many couples find that they are a perfect way to say, “I do.”
Don and Gerri planned a micro wedding with their closest family and friends at the Williamsburg United Methodist Church. Followed by a lovely reception at the historic Williamsburg Inn, it was the perfect size to interact with each guest and truly celebrate in a personal way.
One of my favorite things Don and Gerri chose to focus on is gifting each of the families in attendance with a portrait. With larger weddings, I am usually only able to do family formals with smaller numbers; but we were able to photograph every person attending (and they now have a beautiful family or couple photos of themselves all dressed up to keep for years to come – talk about a great wedding favor!).
If you are planning a smaller intimate wedding in Williamsburg, VA, check out the Williamsburg Inn as a fantastic venue option (I love their East Lounge!), and let’s connect to start planning! I can’t wait to share your micro wedding in Williamsburg, VA on the blog! <3
