I was SO excited to take Emma’s first birthday pictures. Her parents, Katelin and Jeremy, have been good friends of ours for years (Katelin was waiting for us in our apartment to help when we came home with our first baby, Noah). Katelin decided to bake a cake herself and pick up pink icing from the local grocery store. With just simple white paper as a backdrop, we were able to create such fun images!
I loved that Katelin and Jeremy also wanted to do a family session as a part of Emma’s first birthday pictures. We headed down to Colonial Williamsburg (watching the weather closely as the rain and clouds were rolling in). I think despite the weather challenges and trying to keep a one year old happy, we captured some amazing images that they will cherish forever.
If you’re trying to decide between a traditional cake smash session or a full family session for first birthday pictures in Williamsburg, VA, why not book a package for both? I’d love to connect today and bring your vision to life – whether it’s hot pink or another fun color, you will love seeing your little one have fun in the icing.
Please note – my families bring their own props and cakes so that you can customize your color scheme, but I’m here to guide and help you. Worried about budget? I provided the backdrop, and the cake was less than $8. Some clients pick up balloons at the local grocery store or even a fun banner (seen behind Emma in some of the images). For a more natural look, we can put a blanket down in Colonial Williamsburg and just take images of your little one alone if you prefer. Whatever you decide, you will cherish these images and moments for years to come. They grow SO fast – it sound cliche, but it’s oh so true!
