I just LOVE fall family photos in Williamsburg! <3. Yes, my favorite season has arrived, and it’s the perfect time to schedule fall family photos in time for Thanksgiving or Christmas cards!
When Irma reached out to me to schedule a family session, I wasn’t sure if we would have hot or cool weather since it was early fall (September). We ended up with the BEST evening in Colonial Williamsburg – the days of sweating through photo sessions are done for 2023 :).
Irma did an amazing job choosing their colors – she had no idea I was going to start in this garden where the flowers would pop with her burgundy tones <3. Many families think that matching outfits are the way to go (purchasing the same sweater or top for everyone in the family). I hope you’ll agree after looking through these gorgeous fall family photos in Williamsburg that complementary colors are way better!
As you’re planning outfits, you can look at color schemes on Google and pick a palette that is complementary but not matchy. I even love choosing accessories to tie everyone together if you like the matching aspect. For example, perhaps your son has a vest on that complements your husband’s tie. Or your daughter has a headband that matches a color in your dress. These small items can bring in pops of color that tie the group together without having to purchase outfits that are the same for everyone. It also makes it fun where everyone can still have their own personality and outfits that complement them! :). Win, win!
Besides the wonderful outfit choices, I also LOVED how much Irma’s three kids interacted during the session. They were willing to pose together, and her son even put up with one of our cutesy ideas to get a photo of each sister puckering their lips at him. Isn’t it such a great photo?! Of course, we also took time to get individuals of each child in the family as well as some of mom and dad (something that’s often overlooked but SO important!).
