Are you ready for some pictures from a summer wedding in Williamsburg, VA? It was hot, hot, HOT for Emily and Will’s wedding at the Williamsburg Inn!
Will and Emily actually met at Atlantic Shores Christian School in EIGHTH GRADE! However, they went separate ways and attending differing schools later. They did stay in touch though. Will eventually joined the Navy while Emily attended Virginia Wesleyan University. Each time he was on leave, he would see her, even though they were “just friends.” Right?!
After TWELVE years of being “just friends,” Will asked Emily to be his girlfriend in April of 2020. They had a remote relationship until October when she was finally able to fly to Washington State to visit. They maintained their relationship long-distance for two years, until Will was transferred to Georgia. Emily made the move to Georgia to be with Will, and they made a home together with their three puppies in 2022. Will proposed in December of 2022, and they were wed in Colonial Williamsburg in July of 2023!
When I say that a summer wedding in Williamsburg, VA can be hot and humid, I am not kidding – we sweated the day away at Will and Emily’s wedding during one of the hottest weeks we have had all summer. Her mom was incredible and even thought to purchase small battery fans in Emily’s colors so we could cool off throughout the day.
Emily and Will got ready at the Williamsburg Inn, and all of her florals were done by their floral designer, Lindsey Codekas. Lindsey did an amazing job with the purple hues Emily dreamed of having on her wedding day. The princess tiara fit perfectly!
After getting ready in Emily’s room, we went down to the East Lounge and stood in awe of her gorgeous train! The ceremony took place on the East Lawn with the breathtaking views of the terrace behind the couple. It was so hot and humid that the family cooled off indoors and rotated for family formals under the shade of a tree by the Inn. Despite the heat, I think you’ll agree that the carriage ride in the July heat was worth it!
Emily’s mom did much of the planning for the wedding, and she picked out the most fun idea for their guest book. The couple loves playing games, and now they will have a personalized Jenga guestbook with memories on the blocks written by their guests. As usual, the staff of the Williamsburg Inn did an incredible job setting up the reception space. The couple danced the night away with their friends and family! Congratulations!
