You’ve said YES to your dream dress- yes, the one you have been dreaming of since probably before you were even engaged! Perhaps you’ve been thinking about scheduling bridal portraits. This fun tradition gives you the chance to see your bridal look all together for the first time – scheduling a hair and makeup trial as well as having a sample bouquet created will give you the full look. It’s a great chance to have a photo session focused on just you, aside from the busyness of a full wedding day.
As tradition goes, the photos from your bridal portraits are secret until the reception, where you can choose to display your favorite on a canvas or frame. I love that a bridal session gives you time to practice posing and moving around in your dress. Looking at your bridal portrait gallery, you may even decide to tweak your final look for your special day too. While the main focus is not to be a trial run, it’s a great time to make sure everything comes together as you have dreamed :).
Bridal portraits are also a great heirloom to pass down for generations. I know my mother has a huge portrait of me hanging in her hallway! Since this is a session focused on you and your bridal details, be sure to bring the following:
- Dress
- Veil
- Shoes
- Undergarmetns
- Jewelry
- Bouquet
- Engagement Ring
- Comfy shoes to walk
- A family member or friend to help out
Last month, I had the opportunity to meet Sarah and her mom at Pleasure House Point Natural Area for Sarah’s bridal portraits in Virginia Beach. While she chose not to do a trial bouquet, she was absolutely stunning in the simplicity of her wedding dress and mother nature’s backdrop. I am just now able to post these as she is officially married! What a BEAUTIFUL bride! <3
