Jonathan reached out to me to actually schedule a surprise proposal on the waterfront in Norfolk. We traveled there, and they were having dinner with their parents. Of course, no one but Jonathan knew that we had a proposal scheduled before sunset by the water – complete with surprise engagement photos. Delays happened with family, then more delays happened with dinner, and the sun ended up setting long before they could get out of the restaurant.
When life makes lemons, though, Jonathan has chosen to make delicious lemonade. Since we could not get those sunset photos he dreamed of with gorgeous natural light, they made a trip over to Williamsburg for a make-up photo session. We walked around Colonial Williamsburg and photographed their engagement. One of my favorite images ended up being them leaning against a random brick wall (near the Cheese Shop). Sometimes, the best images are in the most unlikely locations!
As you can see below, it’s so fun to try images on brick walls and in parking lots – you’d never guess there are cars parked behind them (and some passing behind me). Their session turned out so great, and I’m so excited for Jonathan and Kate’s future together. Congratulations
